Davao City (4 September) — Often
unrecognized for their versatility in doing various kind of functions
in public service, teachers now get a month-long recognition as
Philippines participates in the World Teachers’ Day on October 5.
Today, the Department
of Education XI launches the Teachers’ Month Campaign and will culminate
on Occtober 5 in time for the celebration of World Teachers’ Day.

The campaign is aimed
to celebrate the unique role and service of teachers in guiding
families, strengthening communities and building the nation.

On October 5 at 10:05
am, all nationwide will take a break from their classroom or school
programs. School bells will be sounded as signal for the synchronized
World Teachers’ Day celebration.
Estigoy urged the
students, parents, and the community to be the one to honor the teachers
on their special day. Previously, teachers were the ones who prepared
the program and intermission numbers to entertain themselves on their
special day. This time, the DepEd clearly encouraged the students to
exert effort in recognizing their teachers.
Part of the regional
activities scheduled for the month-long campaign include the Search for
Outstanding Teacher Parent, Search for Outstanding Family of a
Teacher-Parent, Teachers Got Talent, medical check-up for teachers, and
the "Tiangge para sa mga Guro".
Also part of the
activities in the central office during the celebration is the
announcement of the Education Secretary about the implementing proposal
regarding the K+12 Program in the presence of President Benigno Aquino
